Clerking support

High quality professional clerking is crucial to the effective functioning of the governing board. The Clerk to Governors has a key role in school governance, they undertake administrative tasks efficiently and ensure that procedures are followed and statutory duties are met enabling the governing board to understand its role, functions and legal duties so that it can stay focused on its core responsibilities.

We are delighted to offer a comprehensive clerking service, designed to meet all of your clerking needs, whether for a permanent clerk or to service one-off or ad-hoc meetings. Clerks are available to cover both full governing board, Trust, local governing body and committee meetings, plus exclusion, complaint and disciplinary panel meetings.

The clerking service guarantees fully trained, professional clerks who meet the Clerking Standards. To ensure our clerks deliver a high quality service we undertake:

  • Recruitment and pre-employment checks
  • Induction training and on-going professional development training
  • Their personnel and payroll function
  • Regular performance reviews
  • Advice on agenda setting
  • Training and updates on legislation
  • We can provide professional cover if your school's assigned clerk is unavailable

Many of our clerks have either completed or are working towards the Accredited Clerk qualification and/or the National Clerks' Development Programme.
