Governance Conversations

What are Governance Conversations? Governance Conversations are an effective way governance volunteers can gain access to advice and assistance. The annual discussions, facilitated by The Governance Service provided by Norfolk County Council, offer a supportive platform for volunteers to enhance how they challenge the schools they serve. The team at The Governance Service use their experience to work with you to consider the next steps, supporting you with resources, training and materials.

By focusing on current challenges faced by governing boards, these concise and informal meetings provide practical solutions, resources, and guidance specially around the board's needs. Typically involving the Chair of Governors, these sessions, often conducted online, do not require any preparation by the chair.

Conversations are scheduled annually, however The Governance Service remains flexible, accommodating adjustments to timescales if a school's situation changes ahead of 12 months. Your board will be contacted when your meeting is due and a date to meet will be agreed. If your board would like to arrange an earlier date, please contact The Governance Service on 01603 303355 or governor.services@norfolk.gov.uk
