Introduction and 2024 changes

The following pages show the school organisation changes dating back to March 2016.

2024 changes

  • Sprowston Infant School -To increase the number of places at the Complex Needs Specialist Resource Base (SRB), from 18 places to 26 places, at Sprowston Infant School, Sprowston from 1 February 2024.
  • Blofield Primary School - To increase the number of pupils at Blofield Primary School, from 210 pupils to 420 pupils and move into a new school building at Plantation Road, Blofield, NR13 4PL. from 1 September 2024 conditional on planning permission approval by 31 December 2023. 
  • Establishment of Specialist Resource Bases in the following schools, as detailed below from the dates stated:-
    • Falcon Junior School, Norwich - 8 Place additional intervention base from 1 September 2024
    • Redcastle Family School, Thetford - 8 Place early intervention/8 place additional intervention base from 1 February 2024

2023 changes

The following schools have made changes in 2023:

  • Hillside Primary School, Bradwell, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk - addition of 10 places to establish a 20 place Learning and Cognition Specialist Resource Base, located on the school site, from 1 January 2023.
  • Necton VA Primary School, Norfolk - to extend the school's age range from 4-11 to 2-11 years, from 1 September 2023.
  • Fred Nicholson School, Dereham - close the boarding provision by 31 August 2023, increase the capacity of the school by 52 pupils, from 1 September 2023.

2022 changes

The following schools have made changes in 2022:

  • The Clare School, Norwich - to increase the number of pupils to 120 by adding 15 places from 1 January 2022.
  • Chapel Green School, Old Buckenham - to increase the number of pupils in a special school to 160, by adding 50 places from 1 September 2022.

2021 changes

The following schools have made changes in 2021:

  • Millfield Primary School, North Walsham - Expand the 10 place Autism Specialist Resource Base (SRB) by adding a further 6 places to make a 16 place SRB from 1 September 2021
  • Harford Manor School, Norwich - to increase the number of places by 10 pupils, from 1 September 2021

2020 changes

The following schools have made changes in 2020:

  • John Grant School, Caister-on-Sea - To increase the number of pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disability, by adding 30 places at John Grant School, Caister-on-Sea, from 1 September 2020.
  • Caister Infant (Community) School and Nursery - To change the age range from 2-7 years to 4-7 years at Caister Infant (Community) School & Nursery, from 1 September 2020.
  • Sedgeford (Community) Primary School, Ringstead Road, Sedgeford, Norfolk PE36 5NQ - To close Sedgeford (Community) Primary School, and to change the catchment area of Sedgeford to accommodate the change from 31 August 2020.
  • Caister Infant and Nursery (Community) School and Caister Junior (Community) School - Establish a 16 place Social, Emotional and Mental Health Specialist Resource Base, located on the school site from 1 September 2020
  • Drake Primary (Community) School, Thetford - Establish a 16 place Autistic Spectrum Disorder Specialist Resource Base, located on the school site from 1 September 2020
  • Hillcrest Primary (Community) School, Downham Market - Establish a 16 place Learning and Cognition Needs Specialist Resource Base, located on the school site from 1 September 2020
  • Mundesley Infant (Community) School and Mundesley Junior (Community) School - To alter the 10 place Social, Emotional and Mental Health Specialist Resource Base at Mundesley Infant School to establish a 16 place Social, Emotional and Mental Health Resource Base, located on the school site from 1 September 2020
  • North Denes Primary (Community) School, Great Yarmouth - Change of age range from 2-11 years to 4-11 years from 1 February 2020
  • Redcastle Family (Community) School, Thetford - To establish a 16 place Autistic Spectrum Disorder Specialist Resource Base, located on the school site from 1 September 2020
  • Sheringham Woodfields School - Increase in the number of places for pupils with Special Educational Needs from 1 January 2020
  • Sprowston Infant School - Increase in the number of Specialist Resource Base places from 10 to 18 from 1 February 2020
  • Swaffham C of E VC Infant School - Change the age range to the full primary age range, 2-11 years. To also change the name of the school to Heartwood Church of England Primary School from 1 September 2020
  • Trowse Primary (Community) School - Increase the capacity from 105 pupils to 210 pupils and relocate to a new school site in Trowse from 1 September 2020
  • Worstead Primary School - Change of category to Voluntary Aided from 1 September 2020

2019 changes

The following schools have made changes in 2019:

  • Fakenham Infant and Nursery School: Change of age range from 3-7 to 2-7 years - 1 March 2019
  • Hethersett, Woodside Infant and Nursery School: Change of age range to become a primary school and relocate to the north of Hethersett - 1 September 2019
  • Hethersett CE VC Junior School: Change of age range to become a primary school - 1 September 2019
  • Sacred Heart School, Swaffham: A new 210 place Primary Voluntary Aided Catholic School (3 - 11 years), with 25 place-maintained nursery class, in Swaffham (Sacred Heart Roman Catholic VA Primary School) - 1 September 2019
  • Drake Primary School, Thetford: Change of age range from 3-11 years to 4-11 years - 1 September 2019
  • St George's Primary and Nursery School, Great Yarmouth: Change of age range from 3-11 years to 4-11 years - 1 September 2019
  • North Elmham CofE VC Primary School: Change of category to Voluntary Aided - 1 September 2019
  • Shelton with Hardwick Primary School and Hempnall Primary School: Closure of Shelton with Hardwick Primary School and extension of catchment area of Hempnall Primary School - 31 December 2019

2018 changes

The following schools have made changes in 2018:

  • Gayton CE VC Primary School: Change of age range from 5-11 to 4-11, expand the capacity and relocate the school to a new site in Gayton Village - 1 September 2018
  • Alderman Swindell Primary School: School closed - 31 August 2018
  • North Denes Primary School: Change of age range to admit pupils from the age of 2 - 1 September 2018
  • St Michael's CE VA Nursery and Infant School, Aylsham: Change of age range to become a primary school - 1 September 2018
  • Swaffham CE VC Infant School: Change of Catchment area for children 4-7 years joining the catchment areas of Pickenham and Swaffham - 1 December 2018

2017 changes

The following schools have made changes in 2017:

  • Aylsham St Michael's CE Voluntary Controlled Nursery and Infant School: Change of category to Voluntary Aided - 1 January 2017
  • Attleborough Infant School: Change of age range from 4-7 to 3-11, expansion to 630 places and relocation to a new site south of the town at London Road, Attleborough The school to be known as Rosecroft Primary School, Attleborough - 1 September 2017
  • Attleborough Junior School: Change of age range from 7-11 to 3-11, expansion to 420 places. The school will be known as Attleborough Primary School - 1 September 2017
  • Mulbarton Junior School: School closed - 31 August 2017
  • Mulbarton Infant School: Change of age range from 3-7 to 3-11 an amalgamation with Mulbarton Junior School to become Mulbarton Primary School - 1 September 2017
  • Browick Road Primary School, Wymondham: Change of age range from 4-11 to 2-11 - 1 September 2017

2016 changes

The following schools have made changes in 2016:

  • St Andrews CE Primary School, North Pickenham: Change of age range from 5-11 to 2-11 - 1 March 2016
  • Sewell Park College, Norwich: Sixth form closed - 31 August 2016
  • Brockdish CE VC Primary School: School closed - 31 August 2016
  • Drake Infant and Nursery School, Thetford: Change of age range from 3-7 to 3-11 - 1 September 2016
  • Happisburgh CE VA Primary School: Change of age range from 5-11 to 3-11. Change of name to: Happisburgh CE VA Primary and Early Years School - 1 September 2016
  • John Grant School, Caister: Expansion to 141 places with 6 place satellite nursery provision at Shine Nursery Great Yarmouth - 1 September 2016
