Norfolk, Essex and Suffolk Teacher Training (NESTT)

Norfolk, Essex, and Suffolk Teacher Training (NESTT) (formerly known as Suffolk and Norfolk SCITT) offers a wide range of training programmes across East Anglia.
Primary Programmes
NESTT offers three primary teacher training routes: the Primary Tuition Programme (full time or part time and with the option for a PGCE); the BA (Hons) Childhood: Primary Education with QTS, and an Assessment Only Route for experienced teachers.
- Primary Tuition Programme: Offers both full-time and part-time options, with the opportunity to earn Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Trainees can also pursue a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) with 60 Master's credits. As well as our general primary course, we offer specialisms in SEND and EYFS
- BA (Hons) Childhood: Primary Education with QTS: An undergraduate programme combining academic study with practical teaching experience, leading to QTS. This course is delivered in partnership with the University of Suffolk and the academic study is delivered in Ipswich
- Assessment Only Route: Designed for experienced unqualified teachers with substantial teaching experience.
Secondary Programmes
NESTT offers two secondary teacher training routes: the Secondary Tuition Programme (full time or part time and with the option for a PGCE) and an Assessment Only Route for experienced teachers.
- Secondary Tuition Programme: Offers both full-time and part-time options, with the opportunity to earn Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Trainees can also pursue a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) with 60 Master's credits. We train teachers in Art and Design, Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Computer Science, Design and Technology, Drama, English, Geography, History, Languages (French, German, Spanish), Mathematics, Music, Physics, Physical Education, Sociology, and Religious Education.
- Assessment Only Route: Designed for experienced unqualified teachers with substantial teaching experience.
NB For candidates who are currently working in a school, there is a salaried training programme where the school continues to employee the trainee while undertaking their training. Trainees on this route follow a personalised version of the main tuition programme for the relevant phase.
With partnerships across East Anglia, trainees have access to a wide range of school placements, enhancing their practical experience.
