UEA works with a range of partners to promote Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities and to offer a range of conferences and short courses to support teacher development and school improvement in the region. Our CPD programmes encompass the needs of teachers new to the profession, those who aspire to leadership roles and those who are interested in the theory, policy and practice of education.
As part of our engagement with teachers, educational leaders and other stakeholder, UEA welcomes proposals for courses or events that are not currently in the portfolio. To make a suggestion, please contact: [email protected].
- Professional Development for Early Career Teachers
On this course you will get advice and support on improving your teaching skills as well as juggling your workload so you're able to handle these challenges.
Through the course you will reflect on and identify your professional development needs. You will explore: behaviour management strategies, pedagogical approaches to teaching and learning, ways to prioritise your workload and more. This 5 week, 15 hours online course is CPD certified. - How to Embrace Relational Pedagogy & Foster Inclusive Education
Learn to build strong, supportive relationships in the classroom to foster inclusivity and create positive learning environments. Centred around relational pedagogy and inclusive teaching practice this 5-week, 20-hour online course brings together perspectives and expertise from both healthcare and education sectors. - MA Professional Practice in Education (Part Time)
This dynamic and flexible programme is designed to empower educators at all levels to enhance their skills, deepen their subject matter expertise, and develop their leadership capabilities. Whether you're an early childhood educator, a high school teacher, or a professional in further education, the course will enable you to tailor your learning experience to align with your career aspirations. This top-up qualification allows you to transfer credits from your Initial Teacher Training or build on your professional experience leading to a full Master's degree. The course allows you to choose from a diverse range of modules to meet your professional needs and aspirations. - MA Education: Learning, Pedagogy and Assessment (Part Time)
On this Master's in Education: Learning, Pedagogy and Assessment (two-year part-time course), you'll delve deep into the processes, theories and practices of teaching, learning and assessment. - MSc Education Leadership and Management (Part Time)
The fast-moving policy changes and reforms in 21st-century education have created a high demand for professionals with advanced leadership and management skills. The interdisciplinary MSc Education Leadership and Management Part Time course has been designed to enable participants to embrace the problematic aspects of leadership and management with confidence, understanding and insight. - Doctor of Education
Based in the School of Education and Lifelong Learning, the five-year part-time Doctor of Education (EdD) programme is designed to enable you to understand and apply cutting-edge academic research methodologies to professional practice and current concerns in areas related to education, training, and professional development. The EdD programme is open to home and international students. - Doctor of Philosophy
The PhD in the School of Education and Lifelong learning is a three-year full-time or six year part-time programme providing the opportunity to research a topic in depth and to contribute new knowledge to educational research and practice. This programme provides the opportunity to develop your own personalised programme of research training and professional development from a large range of courses available within the University and across our Southeast Network for Social Sciences Doctoral Training Partnership (SENSS DTP) network. - Doctorate in Educational Psychology
The EdPsyD at UEA is the only programme of its kind based in the Eastern Region of England. Successful completion of all elements of the Programme confers eligibility to apply for registration as a Practitioner (Educational) Psychologist with the Health Care and Professions Council (HCPC) and membership as a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS). Within the East of England, the programme enjoys close links with our partner Local Authority colleagues.

The Joyce Morris Early Years Literacies Forum is focussed on supporting understanding of early years literacies across the sector through a series of public lectures, research and networking opportunities, including the Reception Class Teacher Network. - Enhancing Teacher Agency with Technology
This project looks at how and why teachers use technology (EdTech). We take a place-based approach to build a new model for understanding teachers' agency with technology in context to help educators in primary and secondary schools, and aid researchers and policy makers across the UK. - Seminars - School of Education and Lifelong Learning
The School of Education and Lifelong Learning host regular research seminars, inviting speakers renowned in their field of research to share their knowledge with a wider audience. There are also some joint seminars hosted with the School of Global Development.

Funded by the apprenticeship levy, the Senior Leaders Level 7 Apprenticeship offers the opportunity to gain a postgraduate diploma in Strategic Leadership and Chartered Manager status with the Chartered Management Institute. You will undertake the same theoretical learning as postgraduate students but with no university fees to pay, and the two-year programme allows you to earn while you learn. Upon completion of the SLA, apprentices have the opportunity to enrol on a short top-up programme to qualify for an MBA (at extra cost). This is separate from the apprenticeship.
