Additional Support

Alongside our established professional development offer for schools, Norfolk Virtual School provides a range of targeted additional support opportunities to further enhance outcomes for our cohorts. These include:

  • Training that is responsive to the specific challenges and strengths within each setting.
  • Virtual workshops tailored to specific needs, such as emotional wellbeing, transition support, and academic confidence.
  • Tuition support for children and young people identified as being at risk of not meeting age-related expectations, helping to close gaps and build resilience in learning.
  • Book groups in collaboration with Norfolk Libraries, encouraging a love of reading and providing a space for discussion, creativity, and connection.
  • Funded access to a range of high-quality educational apps designed to support learning and engagement for looked after, previously looked after, and kinship care children and young people.
  • Initiatives such as Dolly Parton Imagination Library and the Play and Discover Programme, both designed to support the early development of looked after, previously looked after, and kinship care children in their foundation years.
  • Funded places on a range of training courses to support professionals working with looked after, previously looked after, and kinship care children and young people.

Participation

Norfolk Virtual School hosts a series of engaging participation events for our cohorts of looked after, previously looked after, and kinship care children and young people. These events are designed to offer enriching experiences, foster friendships, and encourage exploration through a variety of activities.

Previous events have included Forest School events, Mini Monsters Workshop, Kayaking, canoeing, Djembe drumming, STEM karting course, and animation workshops
