Accessibility plans for education settings
Every education setting should use their accessibility self-evaluation framework (SEF) to inform their accessibility action plan.
The accessibility plan sets out how a setting is planning to improve accessibility for children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities, their families, and staff.
The accessibility plan should cover what action is being taken to improve in the following areas:
- Curriculum
- Environment
- Information
The accessibility plan should be reviewed and reported on annually as part of a continuous process of improvement.
The accessibility action plan template (Word doc, 79 KB) has been co-produced with parent carer organisations, educational settings and professionals involved in special educational needs and/or disabilities and has been tested with education settings. The fully editable template aims to support education settings to write and publish a comprehensive accessibility plan.
