You might have seen the speech that Bridget Phillipson made to the ASCL last week, outlining the changes to legislation that are coming as part of the Child Wellbeing and Schools Bill . You probably won't be surprised to see that mainstream inclusion was a key focus and, as we mark Neurodiversity Celebration Week, I was pleased to hear her describe that children thinking differently is a gift.
Tom Rees, who is leading the Expert Advisory Group on Inclusion for the government, is working with ImpactED, and has just launched a survey calling for examples of Inclusion in Practice. I know there is great work happening in Norfolk and it would be great to see this help to shape the policy direction of government. If you do share with the advisory group, we'd love to see what you share too, so we can share across our own education system to benefit our contionous learning approach, please do send it on to Jonathan.nice@norfolk.gov.uk.
In other SEND news, I am delighted to share that there has been a major step in the development of the new Fred Nicholson School, with children attending the steel signing ceremony last week. It was great to hear of the excitement on the children's faces as they visited the relocated and expanded school.
Thanks
