FAO: All schools , 25 April 2025 10:48

'Talking About Cancer Together' would like to invite you to an informal in-person meeting focused on Engaging & Educating Schools in Cancer Awareness, taking place on:

Date:  Monday 12 May
Time:  2:00pm - 4:00pm
Venue: Community Action Norfolk Office, Ambassador Way, Greens Road, Dereham, NR20 3TL.

This session is open to anyone with an interest in increasing awareness and understanding of cancer (including bereavement) within schools. It follows insights shared during a recent network session and reflects a growing interest from members to explore this area together.

Please do share this invitation with your networks or any colleagues who may be interested in attending.

While 'Talking About Cancer Together would really value seeing as many people as possible in person, an online Microsoft Teams link will be available for those unable to travel.

Agenda Highlights:

Current Engagement with Schools

  • -Who is already working with schools?
  • What projects or initiatives exist, and what can we learn from them?
  • How have successful relationships been built?

Opportunities for Collaboration

  •  What knowledge or support gaps need addressing?
  • Who are the key people we need to engage to support curriculum development?

Supporting Teachers & School Staff

  • What training or resources are needed?
  • Could existing tools, such as CAN's Cancer Card Game, be used in schools?

Next Steps

  • Identifying key contributors and champions
  • Setting goals and timelines for action

Please email kate.doe@communityactionnorfolk.org.uk to RSVP, request the Teams link, or find out more.

'Talking About Cancer Together' hopes you can join us in shaping how we support schools and young people in this important area.
