The University of East Anglia (UEA) offers comprehensive pathways into teaching through its Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) programs, designed to equip aspiring educators with the necessary skills and qualifications.

PGCE Programme Overview:

  • Qualification: Upon completion, trainees are awarded Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a PGCE, which includes 90 Master's level credits.
  • Structure: The PGCE is a one-year, full-time programme combining university-based learning with practical teaching experience in schools.

Primary PGCE Courses:

Age range 3-7 years

Age range 5-11 years

Secondary PGCE Courses:

UEA's Secondary PGCE courses cover various subjects and specialisms. Age phase: 11-16 with post-16 enhancement  

UEA School of Education and Lifelong Learning offers undergraduate programmes designed to provide potential career pathways to teaching and other work or study related to the field of education. Our undergraduate BA (Hons) Education related degree programmes are designed to provide a potential pathway to our Primary PGCE.

As part of a broad commitment to help ensure costs do not pose a barrier to students aspiring to apply to a world leading university, a number of UEA and externally funded bursaries and scholarships  are available to eligible students.
