What is PEEP?
PEEP (Peep Learning Together Programme) is an evidence-based early intervention programme that supports parents and carers to enhance their child's learning and development through everyday activities like talking, playing, singing, and reading
How does it work?
PEEP is delivered by trained practitioners through structured sessions with families. It uses the ORIM framework (Opportunities, Recognition, Interaction, and Modelling) to support five key areas of child development:
- Personal, social and emotional development
- Communication and language
- Early literacy
- Early maths
- Health and physical development
What are the principles? What are the benefits?
PEEP is strengths-based, valuing what families already do. It builds parental confidence, strengthens relationships, and improves school readiness. It helps narrow the attainment gap by supporting early learning at home
Who and how can this intervention benefit?
PEEP benefits children from birth to school age, ensuring that they can reach their full potential. It supports parents, carers, and practitioners across education, health, and community settings.
How can this intervention be used? What needs can it support? What CYP may benefit the most?
It can be used universally or in targeted ways to support children with developmental delays, communication needs, or those from disadvantaged backgrounds. Children aged 3-4 are a key focus in Norfolk
How can schools/settings support with PEEP?
Schools and early years settings can host or deliver PEEP sessions, integrate its principles into daily practice, and collaborate with families to reinforce learning at home.
How can families support with PEEP?
By attending sessions, engaging in suggested activities, and using everyday moments to support their child's development through play, talk, and shared experiences.
How can you help CYP understand, be ready for and get the most out of their PEEP?
Use child-friendly language, involve them in fun, interactive activities, and create a safe, welcoming environment where they feel valued and heard.
What information/support is available nationally?
National guidance, training, and resources are available through Peeple's official website
What information/support do we have in Norfolk?
