Opportunities for existing staff
Existing staff of all ages and levels of experience, can complete apprenticeships as a form of continuing professional development (CPD). They are a great way to develop new skills in your school.
An apprenticeship must be relevant to the person's job role as they will need opportunities to apply their learning in practical, work-based contexts. So, for example, a Teaching Assistant wouldn't be eligible for a School Business Professional apprenticeship, however they could do the Specialist Teaching Assistant if supporting SEND.
You can use apprenticeships to provide training that is tailored to the needs and requirements of your school. This is through workplace learning and formal training which means that support is provided not only from the school but also the training provider so you are not alone.
Undertaking an apprenticeship as CPD doesn't affect your contract or your pay.
If you or a member of staff has an interest in doing an apprenticeship contact the NCC apprenticeships team to discuss the next steps.
