Education Workforce Apprenticeships: LA Schools

If you are LA maintained, all apprenticeship training is fully funded using the NCC Apprenticeship levy. Your school would only be responsible for the salary costs of your apprentice. The levy can be used for existing members of staff as well new recruits.

Below is a selection of available apprenticeships designed to develop staff working in educational settings.

Education Learning Staff - Early Years

Early years Practitioner Level 2

 

Work and interact directly with children on a day-to-day basis supporting the planning of and delivery of activities, purposeful play opportunities and educational programmes within the ethos of the setting.  An EYP also supports with observations and assessment of each child, works as part of a professional team to ensure the welfare and care for children and will help to ensure each child feels safe and secure.

Highly trained professionals who play a key role in ensuring that young children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. Through an evidence-based approach they provide opportunities and learning experiences for all children including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Early Years Lead Practitioner Level 5

Working directly with children, skilfully leading day to day practice providing high quality early education and care to children. They are highly skilled professional who take an operational lead for the care, learning and development of all young children within their care providing inclusive and holistic provision.

Design, planning and delivery of programmes that provide learning and change using outdoor activities and experiences.  Outdoor Learning Specialists apply professional outdoor leadership judgement to facilitate safe and effective individual and group learning for children, young people and adults.

Devising, developing, adapting and leading the delivery of engaging and innovative sports or physical activity programmes initiating behaviour change with regards to engagement.

Sports Coach Level 4

Use sports knowledge and skills to create and deliver coaching programmes that engage, motivate and evolve pupils skills and performance.  School sport coaches collaborate with teachers to develop pupils' mastery of psychomotor skills by applying a whole child approach in their coaching.

Specialist teaching assistants support provision related to special educational needs and disability (SEND), the social and emotional well-being of learners, or within another area of specialist curriculum provision such as forest schools, EAL, subject-based interventions or music education.

Providing high quality customer service including face-to-face, telephone, digital and written contact and communications.  Probably the first point of contact therefore your actions will influence customer experience and satisfaction so you will demonstrate excellent customer service skills and behaviours as well as product and/or service knowledge.

Accounts or Finance Assistant Level 2

Maintaining an efficient and accurate finance function within a business.  Responsible for assisting accountants with routine duties such as financial and accounting data entry and basic bookkeeping together with sales and purchase ledgers and running calculations to ensure records and payments are correct.

Assistant Accountant Level 3

Carrying out routine financial activities and support. Tasks may include data entry to month end management accounts and year-end financial statements and possible involvement in regulatory financial requirements.  Responsible for managing own caseload and time whilst reporting to a more senior accountant.

Property Maintenance Operative Level 2

 

General day-to-day maintenance required to keep a range of properties in a good state of repair and in a safe working condition.  Conduct routing maintenance tasks and minor planned and responsive repair works, wising a broad range of trade skills including carpentry, joinery, plumbing, plastering and decorating.  Supporting in the optimisation of building performance and minimisation of environmental sustainability and environmental choices such as recycling and disposal of materials and components in order to achieve net-zero carbon emissions.

Production Chef Level 2

Working as part of a team in kitchen environments working with centrally developed standardised recipes and menus producing food using majority pre-prepared ingredients often in high volumes and adapting to cater for special dietary requirements.

Leading a team to produce standardised dishes and menus within a kitchen environment reporting to a head chef or appropriate line manager.  Senior production chefs have accountability for the day-to-day running of the kitchen service, producing, monitoring and maintaining consistent food standards, legislative requirements and quality across all areas and during all stages of production and supply.

IT Solutions Technician Level 3

 

Develop, implement and maintain complete IT solutions such as networks, operating systems and applications.  Working across the whole solutions lifecycle including requirements gathering, solutions development, testing, implementation and ongoing support.

Providing routine and one-off testing and technical support in a scientific laboratory environment.  Responsible for proactively finding solutions to problems and identifying areas for improving the business.  Taking responsibility for the quality and accuracy and working safely and ethically often under regulated conditions.

Safeguarding Support Officer Level 3

Support statutory safeguarding responsibilities and demonstrate how organisations work to protect an individual's health, wellbeing and human rights.  SSO's have an emphasis on preventive safeguarding and cooperate with different organisations to support in making informed decisions in safeguarding children and adults.  They will be skilled in recognising and responding to emerging safeguarding needs initiating and advocating early intervention when a problem first arises.  First point of contact conducting initial risk assessments, triaging and signposting to the most appropriate person with their organisation of external agency
