Reminder: Big Norfolk Holiday Fun - Winter 2025 bookings open this week

FAO: All school staff , 17 November 2025 09:47
Information

This week, the Big Norfolk Holiday Fun programme will open booking to the public. There are still ways to help us promote the scheme to children receiving benefits-related free school meals.

The Programme

Help us promote the programme:

Your support continues to be vital in promoting the programme to eligible children. Thank you to everyone who requested a free promotional print pack in the last couple of weeks.

To those who missed the deadline, you can still support BNHF in other ways. From this week, you can access a free digital marketing pack to help spread awareness of the programme.

Spread the word to the families and children you work with, letting them know they can visit our Every Move activity finder to explore fun, free local activities: Search for Activities | Every Move

We have a range of FREE promotional marketing tools to help you get the message out to all children in receipt of benefits-related free school meals. Materials include:

  • Digital flyers to print off and go home in bookbags.
  • Newsletter copy and social media graphics.

Download the Big Norfolk Holiday Fun promoter pack here.

You can help encourage families to book by doing the following:

  • Send the Big Norfolk Holiday Fun flyers home with children who are eligible for benefits-related free school meals. You can find these in the 'Schools and Stakeholders' pack.
  • Make your pastoral team aware so they can work with families you know who may struggle to make the booking themselves.
  • Promote the scheme in your weekly school newsletter using the copy provided.
  • Promote the scheme on your Facebook page using the social media images provided (or share Norfolk County Council's Facebook posts).
  • Remind families that Universal Free School Meals is not the same as benefits-related Free School Meals. Further information can be found here.

If you have any questions, please email the team on [email protected] or visit our FAQ page visit our FAQ page..

Thanks in advance for all your continued support.

Personal Assistant (PA) scheme

The NCC Short Breaks Team and Active Norfolk have worked hard to develop a PA payment scheme to enable more children to take part.

Any child who is on benefits-related free school meals and has a personal assistant, can have their PA accompany them.
Families must apply and have the offer confirmed before they book.  Information on this scheme is here.

Benefits-related Free School Meals

Please remind families that Universal Free School Meals is not the same as benefits-related Free School Meals. Further information can be found here.

Encouraging families to register will help raise extra funds for your school (called Pupil Premium).

This government funding can help with extra tuition, teaching and after school activities.

If you have further questions about the programme, please email [email protected] or visit our FAQs here.

Have your say on physical activity in Greater Norwich

Are you based in Greater Norwich? Fancy the chance to win a free gym membership? All that's needed is your feedback!

The Greater Norwich Growth Board (GNGB) wants to hear about your physical activity, whether you play sports, walk the dog, cycle, or are not very active at all. Share what makes it easy for you to stay active and your insights could help future services, facilities, and programmes that help support more active communities.

Everyone over the age of 16 who takes part will be put in a draw to win a prize; a £25 One4All Voucher and either a 1-month free South Norfolk Leisure Membership or an annual single venue Norwich Parks Tennis Membership.

The survey will close at midnight on Sunday 30 November 2025.

Thanks in advance for all your continued support. If you have any further questions, please email [email protected].
