Who are we?
General service introduction
Educational Psychology and Specialist Support (EPSS) is a large, multi-professional service within Norfolk County Council. Our aim is to improve the learning, development, and wellbeing of children and young people, so that every learner has the opportunity to learn, grow, and flourish.
EPSS bring together a range of specialist teams, including Educational Psychologists, Specialist Learning Support Teachers, the Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Team, the Autism Support Team, and the Critical Incident Team. Together, we offer joined-up, evidence-based support for children and young people who may face challenges with learning, communication, social development, or emotional wellbeing.
EPSS work directly with children and young people, and with the schools, families, and communities that support them, to help understand challenging situations and to develop targeted support that promotes positive outcomes. We help to understand a child's strengths and needs, and develop practical strategies and interventions that can make a real, positive difference. We also provide training, consultation, and advice to build confidence and capacity in the adults who support them.
EPSS is also committed to research, innovation, and developing the future workforce. We work in partnership with the University of East Anglia and provide training opportunities for Assistant and Trainee Educational Psychologists, ensuring that our service continues to grow and reflect best practice.
