Who are we?

Educational Psychologists (EPs) are qualified psychologists who apply psychological theory, research and techniques to support the learning, development, and wellbeing of children and young people. We work with schools, settings, families, and other professionals to understand the factors that may be helping or hindering a child's progress, whether these are to do with learning, behaviour, emotions, or social relationships.

Our work can often focus on individual children and young people, using a range of approaches such as observation and assessment (including consultation) to build a clear picture of a child's strengths and needs. From this, we offer practical advice, strategies, and interventions that can make a positive difference in the classroom and beyond. EPs also work at a systemic, whole-school level, to support inclusive practice, promote wellbeing, and develop effective approaches for learning.

"Educational Psychologist" is a protected title regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Only professionals registered with the HCPC are legally permitted to use this title. To be registered with the HCPC, all Educational Psychologists are required to meet national standards to practise safely, ethically, and professionally. They also follow strict professional codes of ethics set by the British Psychological Society (BPS).
