Safe School Run Pledge - primary and secondary schools
Win Active Travel prizes for your school.
The Road Safety team is inviting primary and secondary schools to join a campaign for healthier, safer, and more sustainable school journeys.
The aim of the Safe School Run Pledge is to promote safe travelling and parking behaviours across educational settings. It has been designed to help tackle the challenges schools face during the daily commute and to promote a culture of responsibility and well-being.
There is also an opportunity to enter the termly prize draw for useful Active Travel rewards or a school Road Safety banner. Just take part in the Safe School Run Pledge by using the free resources and then complete a short feedback form.
Your FREE Resources Pack helps improve road safety outside the school gate. Whether you take the pledge or just use the resources, you'll be building safer travel habits and cleaner air for the future.
What's inside your free pack?
- Responsible parking resources: Tackle parking challenges by promoting safer, more considerate habits. Use our resources - posters, leaflets, and practical tips to help reduce congestion and improve safety for everyone near the school gates.
- Active travel promotion: Inspire walking, wheeling, scooting, and cycling to reduce congestion and boost student well-being.
- Air quality monitoring (optional): Book our monitor to reveal pollution levels and show how traffic impacts health. Use insights to protect vulnerable road users and improve the air we all breathe.
Why take part?
By using the resources or taking the pledge, your school will:
- Promote safer travel habits
- Improve local air quality
- Support student well-being
- Meet PSHE learning outcomes
Lead by example and help make the School Run something to be proud of.
