Register your interest for the Adobe Express webinar in September - a free alternative to Microsoft Publisher which is retiring in October
Microsoft Publisher is retiring in October - Adobe Express is a free replacement for schools.
Microsoft has confirmed that Publisher will reach end of life in October 2024. After this date, the software will no longer receive updates or support, and Microsoft has not announced a replacement product.
For many schools, Publisher has been the quiet workhorse behind parent letters, newsletters, timetables, and display labels. If your school still uses it, now is the time to plan your next step - before October arrives.
Adobe Express is a browser-based design tool that covers everything Publisher was used for - and more. It is available at no cost to state schools and non-profit organisations, and works on any device without installation.
Crucially, your existing Publisher files do not need to be recreated from scratch. Export them as PDFs, and you can continue using your label formats and templates directly within Adobe Express.
Adobe Express also includes Adobe Firefly, an AI image generation tool built on royalty-free Adobe Stock images - so there are no copyright concerns when using it with pupils or for school communications.
What to do now
- Check what your school uses Publisher for - parent letters, label sheets, newsletters, and display materials are the most common uses.
- Export your key Publisher files as PDFs before October, so they can be imported into Adobe Express.
- Register your interest for our free September webinar with Adobe - a practical walk-through of Adobe Express for school staff, including how to bring your existing Publisher materials across.
Register your interest by completing this Adobe Express Webinar Registration for School Staff - Fill in form and we will be in touch in September regarding dates.
Adobe Express is free for state schools and non-profit organisations. Eligibility for other settings including preschools and alternative provisions is being confirmed. If you have questions ahead of the webinar, contact ICT Solutions via email [email protected].
