Free Maths and English Tutoring for Care-experienced young people for 2025-26

In partnership with Team Up, NEACO (Uniconnect) is introducing a free tutoring programme to support young people with experience of care as part of its Future You programme, with a goal of increasing access to higher education.

Starting in Autumn term 2025 the programme offers two 12-week programmes of tailored tutoring in both Maths and English language to offer academic support for GCSEs, boost confidence and tackle educational disadvantage.

There are 10 places available for young people who meet the following criteria:

  • Are currently looked after, have experience of care or have a social worker
  • Will be in Year 10 during academic year 2025-26 (i.e. currently in year 9)
  • Currently working at a grade 3 or 4 in Maths or English GCSE
  • Currently living in Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire or Peterborough

Tutoring Sessions will be delivered online after school for 1 hour a week in small groups of 2-3 to enable tutors to tailor session to the particular needs of the group.

The first 12 week programme (Maths) will start in September 2025 with the second 12- week programme starting in January 2026. Students may sign up to one or both programmes.

An individual progress report will be available at the end of each 12 week period and shared with the young person's guardian, social worker and designated teacher.

To make an application please complete this form by 5pm, Monday 14 July 2025.
