Schools and academies Red Book 2025-2026

The new "Critical Incident and Trauma Management in schools, academies and other settings 2024-2025" ("Red Book"), can now be downloaded from My School (login required). It is available to all LA schools as well as to academies and independent schools that have subscribed to the Critical Incident Service.

Red Book 2025-26 for Early Years settings

Early Years settings can access the Red Book through the Educational Psychology & Specialist Support website, at Preparing for and responding to Critical Incidents- Early Years (login required for access to the download).

How to contact us

Please note that from 23/7/25 onwards, the times for the Critical Incident Support Line (07632 912974) for LA schools, Early Years settings and subscribing academies will be:

  • Term time only: Mon-Fri 8am to 6pm
  • School holidays: Mon-Fri 9am to 5pm 

At other times please contact NCC emergency duty on 0344 8008020.

School emergency contacts

If you have recently had a change of headteacher, please ensure that you update your details on the 'Staff' > Emergency Contacts & Keyholders section on the My School website (login required).  Please also notify [email protected] of any headteacher changes so they can update the county council database of schools too.
