Level 4 Award in Supporting Children and Young People with Speech Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
This qualification has been designed to improve your knowledge and understanding of SLCN and the impact on learning and other areas of development. As part of the qualification, you will develop a range of practical skills that can be used to support children and young people with SLCN.
The Level 4 Award is designed to improve your:
- Knowledge of speech language and communication profiles
- Understanding of SLCN and the impact on learning and other areas of development
- Confidence in working in a person-centred way to adapt the environment and teaching and support approaches so that children and young people with SLCN thrive in the classroom and the wider community of the school/setting
Course structure and content
- Six months delivery from November-May
- The course materials are accessed online, via the Learning Platform
- The qualification will take approximately 60 hours of study to complete. This will include guided and non-guided study hours, where participants will engage with the course materials and complete assessment tasks
- Delegates will be supported through 6 tutored workshops on Teams, facilitated by Learning and SEND advisers. These workshops will also provide a 'Norfolk context' for the course
- Optional facilitated study sessions will also be offered as part of the course
On successful completion of this six-month course, you will receive:
- The Level 4 Award in Supporting Children and Young People with Speech Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
- Six Level 4 credits from Gateway Qualifications
