New resource

A new Teaching Assistant CPD resource is now live, bringing together local and national training, qualifications, and career development opportunities.

Whether you're an experienced TA, just starting out, or a school leader supporting staff development, the site makes it easy to:

  • Find role-specific CPD in areas like literacy, numeracy, SEND, and behaviour.
  • Explore career pathways from Level 3 TA to HLTA, apprenticeships, and beyond.
  • Access free and funded training tailored to Norfolk's schools.

Let's keep Norfolk's TA workforce skilled, confident, and ready for the future.

Your voice matters

Help shape the future of TA development pathways in Norfolk and tell us your thoughts on the new Level 5 Specialist Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship

The apprenticeship, launched earlier this year, carries £12000 of levy funding, runs for 18-24 months and allows TAs to specialise in one of three areas:

  1. SEND and inclusive practices
  2. Social and Emotional Wellbeing
  3. Specialist Curriculum provision (ie subject interventions or specialisms, EAL, forest school etc...)

What is particularly exciting, is that this apprenticeship has the potential to carry Foundation Degree status, meaning that the first two years of a degree could be carried out 'on the job' by TAs, and funded by the levy. As such, this could become a great first step on a development pathway leading to QTS.

We would like to hear your thoughts not only about this PD opportunity and also whether the system would value the development of Foundation Degree status, alongside the apprenticeship, to build a step towards a teaching pathway. Tell us your thoughts here.

To find out more about apprenticeships and accessing your levy, visit our updated web area at Apprenticeships for LA schools or academies.
