Primary Maths Teacher programme and Primary ECT programme

Do you have any primary teachers that would like to further develop their knowledge of teaching maths? Angles Maths Hub's SKTM primary programme enables teachers to enhance their maths subject knowledge with an emphasis on the key concepts, representations and the language used to support pupils' understanding. They offer two pathways for this programme: spatial reasoning or number.
Do you have ECTs that would benefit from further specialist training in teaching mathematics? Their ECT SKTM programme enables ECTs to develop their expertise in maths specific pedagogies aligned to teaching for mastery and the ITTECF in order to support pupils' understanding.
Benefits
Teachers will:
- Deepen their maths subject knowledge and explore a range of pedagogic approaches consistent with teaching for mastery.
- Increase their confidence in planning for progression in maths.
Pupils will:
- Use appropriate representations to support their mathematical work.
- Be able to explain their maths and their mathematical thinking using appropriate language.
- Positively engage with maths that challenges them.
What is involved?
Participants attend sessions led by local leads, contribute to an online community and complete school-based tasks.
Who can take part?
- SKTM Primary offers two pathways: spatial reasoning or number.
- SKTM ECTs programme is for teachers in their second or third year of teaching.

Fully-funded Maths CPD programme for Secondary teaching assistants (TAs)
Apply here for a place on the Maths CPD programme for Secondary TAs. This Angles Maths Hub programme is fully-funded, and is designed to improve the subject knowledge and pedagogical knowledge of all TAs supporting the learning of secondary maths.
Benefits
- To enhance their maths specialist knowledge with a particular focus on mathematical structures and representations in the four operations, fractions, ratio and proportion.
- To develop an understanding of how algebra relates to the generalisation of number.
- To work towards developing their understanding of how to suitably scaffold support/resources to meet the needs of their students.
What is involved?
- Attend four afternoon online sessions and two further face-to-face days throughout the course of the academic year.
- Between sessions, participants will contribute to the community, complete school-based tasks, and share their reflections through discussions with peers.
Who can take part?
This programme is for teaching assistants who work predominantly with students in the KS3 maths classroom or who lead intervention sessions with groups of students. It is recommended that participants' schools are engaged with a Teaching for Mastery Work Group as this programme is designed to complement and build on that provision.
