Following our latest podcast, 'Let's Talk...Communication and Trauma Recovery', we are very pleased to welcome Early Years Play Therapist and Consultant, Clare Lord, who will be joining us to explore "More Than Words - The Therapeutic Power of Play" and its essential role in supporting children's self-regulation and communication development.
Therapeutic play is a powerful tool in early childhood development. It offers a safe and expressive medium through which young children can process emotions, express their thoughts and feelings, build resilience, and develop secure attachments. Clare will invite practitioners to explore how play when guided by therapeutic principles offers the opportunity to communicate through play using toys and objects available to them. This session advocates for therapeutic play as not just an intervention, but a foundational approach to nurturing well-being and relational safety in the early years.
Drawing on psychological theories and everyday practice, this session highlights the role of the adult in creating attuned, responsive environments where play becomes a bridge to understanding and connection. It also examines how therapeutic play can be integrated into everyday settings, to foster trust, empathy, and emotional literacy.
