The Norfolk Learning Collaborative opportunities for primary leaders
Are you ready to take your leadership to the next level? Or looking to make a real difference in your school's culture and language provision? The Norfolk Learning Collaborative is delighted to introduce two exciting new opportunities for primary leaders: Leading Language Excellence and the NLC Primary Leadership Certificate.
Leading Language Excellence
Strong language skills underpin every child's success—academically, socially, and beyond. Yet ensuring consistently high-quality early language provision across a school requires more than good intention; it demands clarity, strategy, and confident leadership.
Leading Language Excellence is a focused series of four webinars designed specifically for Headteachers and Senior Leadership Teams. Supported by the Wensum English Hub, this programme equips school leaders with the knowledge and tools needed to evaluate current provision and drive sustained improvement in early language development.
Grounded in research and informed by a robust audit framework, each session will support leaders to:
- Develop a clear understanding of a working model of language, enabling effective observation of children's development across the primary years and beyond.
- Identify key milestones in typical language development between ages 4 and 11.
- Strengthen classroom practice through high-impact, evidence-informed teaching strategies that support all learners.
- Recognise and respond effectively to children who may not be developing language skills as expected.
- Lead meaningful, sustainable change that embeds high-quality language provision across the whole school.
By the end of the series, leaders will have completed a comprehensive audit of their early language provision, undertaken focused gap tasks, and developed clear, actionable next steps to secure the very best outcomes for all pupils.

Norfolk Learning Collaborative Primary Leadership Certificate
The NLC is launching a new initiative to enable new and aspiring primary school leaders the opportunity to find out about how high-performing, inclusive cultures are created and sustained by spending the day at schools which have a track record of raising standards for children from all starting points. The aim is to familiarise the next generation of Norfolk heads with how different leaders are using different strategies to successfully remove barriers for all of their children and to see first-hand what these schools have in common and how their unique visions are translated into highly effective practice.
The first three school events will be held at:
| Mile Cross Primary School | Norwich | 18 June 2026 |
| Thomas Bullock Primary & Nursery Academy | Shipdham | 14 October 2026 |
| St. Nicholas Priory CE VA Primary School & Nursery | Great Yarmouth | 3 March 2027 |
