Opportunity to Co-Design the Consultation Process for School Admissions for Children with EHCPs
Co-Designing the Consultation Process for School Admissions for Children with EHCPs
Why?
Norfolk County Council is committed to ensuring that all children and young people receive the right support at the right time. We have identified opportunities to improve how we consult for and secure placement for pupils with Education, Health & Care Plans.
This re-engineering of the process aims to create a fair and transparent process for families and for schools. Where responses continue to be genuinely considered, with a clear record of how this informed decision making.
Next Steps
We will be holding a workshop towards the end of the summer term, with schools, health colleagues, and internal teams to shape the process collaboratively. This session will cover:
Understanding the current process from a school's perspective
- The legal non-negotiables
- A shared definition of 'good' consultation in practice
- Agreed improvements to consultation communications
- Agreed improvements to consultation templates
We are particularly interested to hear from settings with Yr R and Yr 7 cohorts.
